This event, lasting around 1 hour 30 minutes and suitable for children aged 10 and over, offers an autumnal outing combining heritage, local produce and an exploration of the Entre-deux-Mers region.

On Saturday 24 October 2026, the Ducal Château is organising a unique experience dedicated to its history and the region’s wines. Following a tour of the château, the experience continues with a wine tasting in the former kitchens. A lovely way to enjoy autumn in the Gironde whilst exploring the heritage of the Entre-deux-Mers region.

The tour begins at 11 o’clock and lasts around an hour and a half. Accompanied by a tour guide, participants explore the Ducal Castle of Cadillac, learning about its history from the perspective of wine culture. The tour concludes in the castle’s historic kitchens, where a tasting of local wines is offered.

The château states that this event is suitable for families and friends and is open to those aged 10 and over. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Discover the history of the Ducal Castle of Cadillac

The ducal château overlooks the bastide town of Cadillac-sur-Garonne and is one of the area’s most important historic monuments. It was built in the early 17th century at the request of Jean-Louis de Nogaret de La Valette, the first Duke of Épernon. Its architecture, décor and collections bear witness to the prestige sought by this important figure in French history.

As you explore the castle, you will discover a building whose purpose has changed profoundly over time. Originally an aristocratic residence, the château later became a place of detention. This succession of functions explains the richness of its historical journey. It allows us to explore both court life and the social and institutional changes that the building has undergone.

The château is now managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux. Self-guided, guided and themed tours are available throughout the year. In October 2026, the site is generally open from Tuesday to Sunday, with a break between the morning and afternoon opening hours.
